TARANAKI v. KING COUNTRY. MATCH AT OTOROHANGA. Taranaki, who came through on Saturday to play Waikato and abandoned the match owing to the wet weather, played King Country on Sunday at Otorohanga and defeated them by 16 games to 5. Taylor beat Miss - J. Chambers 6—3, 4—6, 6—5; Miss M. Dickie beat Mrs. Trapski 9 —3; Miss D. Wylds beat Miss D. Scarborough 16 —9; Miss B. Warren stood 6 —4 in an unfinished game with Miss White. Men’s Doubles: E. and A. Dickie beat Fouhy and Brown 9—4; Stromborn and Nodder beat Jones and Jones 9—7; Nicholls and McCarthy beat McLeod and McNamara 9—7. Jones and Miss White 9—6. ‘ Mr. A. C. Thompson for King Country expressed pleasure at the visit paid by Taranaki to Otorohanga for the first time, and said they hoped to send a team through to Taranaki for a return visit. Mr. M. R. Jones responded for Taranaki, saying that they had greatly enjoyed the play and looked forward to a visit by King Country. Cheers for both teams concluded proceedings.
