STATE THEATRE
"IN THE SOUP.", The film favourite Ralph Lynn will be seen at his best in the gay and riotous farce "In the Soup," to be screened to-night and Friday | night at the State Theatre. The story concerns Horace Gillibrand, wouldbe lawyer who becomes so hard up that he is forced to let his flat. He finds suitable tenants, but unfortunately his wife, unknown to him, also lets the flat. The servants leave unexpectedly, and Horace and his wife are compelled to act as butler and housekeeper, to two families who must be kept in ignorance of each other's presence. Judy ;Gunn, Twickenham's contract artiste, is delightful as the wife, and fine supporting cast includes Morton Selten, Nelson Keys, Bertha Belmore and others. THE EMPRESS. On Friday and Saturday evenings there will be the usual double feature programme at the Empress. "End of the Trail" is a story of daredevil rough riders with Jack Holt in the lead. The story is one by Zane Grey land will provide many thrills. "Barred Windows" is a picture of a sensational gaol break, with many, exciting- incidents of prison life.
