DEFICIT OF £80,000,000. INCREASE IN TAXATION. (Press Association. — Copyright.) (Received 12.35 p.m.) London, May 13. The Manchester Guardian's Berlin correspondent says that Herr Reinhardt, chief permanent official of the Finance Ministry, when addressingtaxation officers, admitted a heavy Budget deficit and declared that the taxation yield must be increased by at least £83,000,000. He hoped to obtain half this sum from a further improvement in trade and the other half must be raised by a tightening of tax collection. Herr Reinhardt forecast the cutting down of expenditure on all but ''really great national tasks."
