COLLECTING INCOME TAX.
JOCKEY HANDED NOTICE. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 12.35 p.m.) Adelaide, this day. No time is lost in South Australia in collecting income tax. When the New Zealand jockey Voitre had returned to the scale after his win on Donaster in the St. Leger on Saturday, he was handed a taxation notice and a return form. The Commissioner of Taxes said yesterday that the usual practice had been followed. The Department did not enquire how long the visiting jockey intended to stop. Notices had been prepared for other inter-State jockeys in the event of their winning. Voitre took the matter philosophically. “‘lf it’s the usual thing, it’s all right,” he said.
