PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

GIRLS’ BIBLE CLASS CAMP. HELD IN TE KUITI. Beautiful weather favoured the Presbyterian Girls’ Bible Class Camp at the local, school during the Easter holidays. Nearly 70 girls from Cambridge to Taumarunui were present and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Mrs. Mclntyre, of Paterangi, was camp mother, Mrs. Brabyn study circle leader, Rev. W. T. Brabyn chaplain, and the committee consisted of Misses G. Perkins, Marjorie Ross, Beth Mclntyre, Vera Crouch, Doris Campion and Dixie Blain. The Primary School buildings were used for sleeping purposes and the Technical School for cooking and dining. Bible study circles were held morning and evening, and on Good Friday the Rev. T. H. Burton, of Otorohanga, gave an impressive address on the seven words of the Cross. An early Communion service on Sunday was largely attended, and for the ordinary services the church was almost full. A camp choir greatly assisted in the singing. On Monday evening interesting addresses were given by the Revs. AMcKenzie and W. H. Hunt on Maori and Home Missions. A trip to Waitomo on Saturday afternoon and a sports meetings bn Monday afternoon in the Domain were greatly appreciated. After a keen tussle Te Kuiti won the athletic shield by one point. Scores: Te Kuiti 20, Cambridge 19, Te Awamutu and Isolsted 17 each.
