WANDERING STOCK.
OVERLOADING OF LORRIES.
For permitting five head of cattle to wander on the main road, 25 miles south of Te Kuiti, J. Davidson, a Maori,' was convicted, and ordered to pay 26s costs in the Magistrate's Court on Monday morning by Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. The information was laid by the traffic inspector, R. H. McKenzie. The inspector also brought an information against Thomas Hamana, whose lorry, when weighed by the inspector when full of cobblestones for the Maori pa, weighed 3 tons 5 cwt, and, the lorry not being covered by a heavy traffic license, a load of over 2 tons was not permissible. A fine of 30s, costs 15s, was imposed.
A fine of -40 s, costs 10s, was imposed on Harold Henderson for overloading his lorry. When weighed the lprry's weight was 5 tons 18 cwt. and the license permitted it to be 5 tons 10 cwt. Charged with riding his bicycle on the footpath on Waitete Road without a light and without a .rear reflector, Robert Wrothall was fined 10s and costs. This case was brought by the police. Sergeant Sparks said a constable had seen the defendant walking his bicycle along Rora Street, and 'then mount and ride along the footpath of Waitete Road at 10 p.m.
