PALMERSTON N. SUPREME COURT. TWO UNUSUAL CASES. (By Telegraph.—t*reSs Association.) Palmerston North, this day. The quarterly session of the Supreme Court opened to-day with Mr. Justice Smith presiding. There is a fairly long list of .civil actions, besides three criminal cases for trial. After referring to the three indictments, the Judge, addressing the Grand Jury, said the first was the usual type, an allegation of theft and receiving, but the other two were of an unusual nature. One related to the alleged placing of an obstruction on the railway line, whereby a railcar used by the General Manager of" Railways might haVe been derailed, and the other charge related to an unusual case of alleged assault, with alternative charges, in connection with an incident when the husband fired a shot which hit his wife. The Judge then dealt with details of the alleged offences.
