URNEST IN FRANCE

DRASTIC REFORMS PROPOSED. SAVING COUNTRY FROM BANKRUPTCY. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 1.30 p.m.) London, August 9. The Times' Paris correspondent says that the new decrees will represent the most ambitious economiclegislation any French Government has undertaken. They will cover every aspect of the nation's commercial life and involve wholesale interference by the State of the mechanism in private commerce. Even opponents of the Government are impressed by M. Laval's immense effort at reorganisation, though he may be accused of modelling the decrees on Fascisti lines. Actually the Premier aims at saving France from Fascism and bankruptcy alike. Public reception of the decrees, contrasting with that of economics, seems favourable.
