TRAGEDY IN TRAIN
MURDER AND SUICIDE. PECULIAR FEATURE OF CASE. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 12.45 p.m.) London, July 22. At the inquest on John Keyes, aged 28, a ship's purser, and Emily Jarvis, aged 24, who were found dead in a railway carriage, each with a bullet wound in the heart, a verdict was returned that Keyes murdered Miss Jarvis and then committed suicide. A peculiar feature of the case was that there were two bullet wounds in each case, and it was deemed impossible for anyone to fire a second shot when he had already been shot in the heart. A retired detective-inspector gave evidence regarding a previous case he had to deal with where a contracting finger on the trigger caused a second shot.
