ANCIENT DOCUMENT
0 DID CHRIST WRITE' IT? An ancient and tattered document, purporting to be a reproduction of a letter written by Jesus, has come into the hands of a London clergyman, the Rev. Desmond Morse-Boycott, of Highgate (London), writes the Sydney Sun’s London correspondent. Although no trace of writings by Christ has ever been found, students think He must have written many letters, and scholars are now investigating the document, which also gives the text of a letter from Agbarus, Prince of Edessa, in Arabia, to which the letter purporting to be from Jesus is a reply. The document was printed in Britain centuries ago, and compares generally with the book of Church history written by Eusebius in the early years of Christianity, according to Mr. Morse-Boycott. Agbarus suffered from a wasting disease, and wrote to Jesus begging Him to visit him. Christ’s reply was: “Blessed are thou, 0 Agbarus, who without seeing has believed in Me. For it is written concerning me that they who have seen Me will not believe, that they who have not seen may - believe and live. “But in regard to what thou hast written, that I soould come to thee, it is nceessary that I should fulfil all things here, for which I have been sent. And, after this fulfilment, thus to be received again by Him that sent Me. “And after I have been received up, I will send to thee a certain one of My disciples, that he may heal thy affliction and give life to thee and those that are with thee.” These two letters were said to have I been found in the archives of the city of Edessa. Appended is an account of the healing.of Agbarus by Thaddeus, who was sent by St. Thomas in fulfilment of Christ's promise.
