READ SHIELD
COMPETITION COMMENCING. PLAYING OF THREE ROUNDS. The cricket competition for the Read Shield is to be commenced at the Railway Oval this week-end. This coveted trophy, contested between representatives of the Druids, Oddfellows and Foresters’ Lodges, is at present held by the Druids’ Lodge, it being successful after the very keen and enjoyable competition of last year. This year, with the object of playing three rounds instead of the two formerly played, matches are being started before Christmas. The Railway Oval is reported to be in excellent condition.
The following is the draw for the first round: — Druids v. Oddfellows. Foresters v. Oddfellows. Druids v. Foresters.
