UNIVERSITY BLUES

RESTRICTION ON OVERSEAS STUDENTS. SAME AS IN AMERICA. (Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.45 a.m.) London, November 20. With the object of affording English undergraduates a fair chance to win their Blues, Cambridge has barred American and other overseas athletes from competing in inter’Varsity sports. This does 'not apply to overseas students taking a full course at Cambridge, but is directed against American trained athletes who do a year at Cambridge solely to get their Blue. Overseas students who have completed a year or more in another university are not eligible to represent Cambridge at inter-’Varsity sports unless under nineteen years of age. The rule will be enforced in 1934. Officials state that a similar regulation operates against British athletes and retaliation is long overdue. It is noteworthy that no such ban has been imposed at Oxford.
