WAITOMO CAVES

LABOUR WEEK-END VISITORS. "COMING BACK AGAIN." Accommodation was fully taxed at Waitomo Hostel for Labour Day week-end, between 90 and 100 guests being accommodated. One party of 56 arrived on Saturday afternoon from Auckland. Apart from guests visiting the Caves, the guiding staff had a very busy time with owners of private cars calling in to see the ever popular caves. The guests played tennis, pingpong, putting, and on Sunday afternoon a large party went for a motor excursion. Competitions, < games, community singing and dancing were also part of the programme. The following were winners of the indoor games: Miss Howse, Miss Cato, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Stevenson. The putting competition was won by Miss Abel and Miss Gibbons, As the different parties were leaving regrets that the week-end was not longer could be heard, also the remark was often expresed, ''l'm coming back again." Among the recent overseas visitors were:—Mrs. E. F. Brant, South Africa; Dr. and Mrs. James, London; Mr. James, South Africa; Mr. W. Boushall, Melbourne; Mr. J. Peck, Somerset, England; Mr. S. Wolton, Suffolk, England; Major and Mrs. Langslow, Melbourne; Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Brayne, Ceylon; Miss M. Sturt, Teddington, England.
