ARIA.
Own Correspondent). Last week the new priest in charge of the Aria-Pio Pio Anglican Parochial District was welcomed to Aria by the lady members of his congregation here. Twenty-eight ladies were present at the reception, which was organised by the Aria Ladies’ Church Guild. It is to be hoped that similar numbers will attend the Church services to be held at Aria by the Rev. F. H. Germon, whose work will need all the encouragement that decent attendances can give him. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent, the remains of the tea filling more than the historical number of baskets. Mrs. Crookes, with her usual generosity, placed her house at the disposal of the Guild for the afternoon’s reception and the Guild is grateful to her for her great kindness. Returned Soldiers’ Association. The monthly meeting of the subbranch of the Te Kuiti R.S.A. took place on Saturday. As was anticipated the attendance was greater than usual. Members were pleased to see their president, Mr. Cuthbert Patton, once more amongst them and somewhat recovered from his painful illness. The secretary reported that there were now over 32 financial members and said he hoped to rope in several more before long. The principal business of the even ng was in connection with the War Memorial. For this the chairman of the War Memorial Committee, Mr. Fred Davidson, occupied the chair. Numerous subscriptions were paid in and the total now is sufficient to warrant the erection of the shell of the building —the interior embellishments of the building will be the concern of the parties regularly using the memorial, viz., the Returned Soldiers’ Association, the Library, Ladies’ Guild, Women’s Institute, etc. A Building Committee was elected and is to consist of the following: Messrs. F. Davidson, John Nicol, D. J. Helms, Fred Evans, M. V. Reeve-Smith; Mr. Alfred Henderson, and a member of the Aria Library Committee. On completion of the building, a public meeting of the subscribers is to be called for the purpose of electing a permanent body of trustees so that the building may always be maintained in a fitting mahner. Aria Dairy Company. The local Dairy Company continues to show an increased output, the month’s increase (September) being over 5 tons. The payout for September supply is 9id for finest butterfat at the farm gate, other grades in the usual ratio. A further bc'nus of l%d per lb. on butterfat supplied in March, April and May finalises last years’ operations, which were extremely satisfactory.
