REDUCED TAXATION

“BOON TO TRADE.” The Dunedin Chamber of Commerce on Monday decided to write to the Associated Chambers of Commerce expressing regret that the Government had not seen fit to follow Australia’s lead and make any reduction in taxation. It was felt that the confidence which even a small reduction would engender would be an incalculable boon to trade, and it was hoped that if only the Government would fulfil its promise to tackle the costly local body administration, no doubt a reduction could be made. The Chamber urged that the matter be brought befoi’e the Prime Minister.
