UNITED STATES SHIPPING
UNFAIR COMPETITION. NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIAN ACTION. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 10.20 a.m.) Canberra, this day. It is believed that negotiations between the Commonwealth Government and the New Zealand Government has led to a point from which decisive action can be taken to protect Australian and New Zealand shipping in the Pacific from the unfair competition by the United States owned vessels. The Federal Ministry desires that all restriction be abolished, but it is believed that the United States Government is unlikely to co-operate in this course, and it is therefore probable that the impending adjustment of the situation will take the form of provision by the Governments of Australia and New Zealand of restrictions on United States shipping similar to those imposed by the United States authorities on Australian and New Zealand ships.
