THE CRICKET SEASON
KIWB CRICKET CLUB. CHANGE OF NAME. At the annual meeting of the Railway Cricket Club on Saturday evening there was a good attendance. The most important business of the evening lay in the motion, proposed by Mr. Banfield, that the name Railway Cricket Club be altered to one that would not give rise to any misunderstanding. The speaker pointed out that the percentage of actual railway employees who were members was small, though the present name might well cause people to think of it more or less as a railway club. After some discussion on the matter it was decided that Kiwi Club would be a suitable name, and on a secret ballot being taken it was found that a large majority favoured the change of name to Kiwi Cricket Club.
Mr. G. Bashford was re-elected president, Mr. T. Pitcon chairman, and Mr. S. Johnson secretary, while the last-named and Mr. D. Rogers were appointed delegates to the Maniapoto Cricket Association meeting, which, is it understood, will be held very shortly.
