MOKAU BRIDGE

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS. REPAIRS BEING CARRIED OUT. A notice appearing in the advertising columns of this paper draws attention to traffic restrictions which apply to the Mokau Bridge while work is being carried out by the Public Works Department. Stock traffic is not being allowed on the bridge, whilst the speed of vehicular traffic of all kinds is limited to 5 miles an hour. It is anticipated that the repairs in hand will take approximately three months to complete and the traffic restrictions will therefore continue in force until further notice is given. The Main Highways Board is anxious to have the bridge re-opened as soon as possible and every effort is being made to expedite completion so as to minimise inconvenience to the public. If those who have occasion to use the bridge will co-oper-ate by observing the temporary arrangments mentioned above, it will go a long way towards helping the Department in its work and of course in securing the full use of the bridge itself. The Board appreciates the manner in which members of the various Automobile Associations have already accepted the position and has found that travellers generally are prepared to do all they can to reduce inteiTuptions to the work.
