MILITARY DANCE
A MOST SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION.
The annual military dance, conducted by the local Volunteers, was held in Barraud and Abraham's Hall last evening and attracted about 250 patrons. The event was a great success. Visitors from all over the district, including Otorohanga, Te Awamutu, and a large number from Waitomo, attended the function. The hall was most tastefully decorated with blue and orange streamers, greenery and flags. In spite of the large crowd present, there was plenty of room for dancing in the large hall, and the programme went with a swing from start to finish. The Volunteers had worked wonders with the floor, Swift's Orchestra was in goodf orm, and the dancers took full advantage of these '•in the most enjoyable dance held in Te Kuiti for some time. The supper arrangements were all that could be desired, these being under the supervision of Mrs. A. B. Jordan.
A Monte Carlo waltz during the evening resulted in a win for Miss J. Max and Mr.A Willis, after a close contest in the final with Miss M. Hunn and Captain Mackersey. Altogether the function was a huge success, from its beginning soon after 8 p.m. to the close about 2 a.m. Evidence of the popularity of the dance is shown by the fact that the door takings amounted to the sum of £2B.
