A Press Association message from Wellington announces the retirement of Mr. W. A. G. Skinner, Government Printer.

All sections of the community will learn with regret of the death at Dunedin on Saturday afternoon of the Hon. Sir Thomas Kay Sidey, M.L.C., at the age of 70 years. Sir Thomas died at his residence at Caversham after a trying illness.

A notification of the appointment to the Magistracy of Mr. Ernest Walton, barrister and solicitor, of Ngatea,' Thames district, was made yesterday by the Minister of Justice (the Hon. J. G. Cobbe). It is the intention of the Government to station Mr. Walton at Gisborne to preside over the local and district Courts.
