LADIES’ CLUB. The following qualified for match play in the Empress Cup: Mrs. McLeod, Mrs. Skinner, Mrs. Smart, Mrs. Aitken, Miss Matthew’s, Miss Darvell, Miss Podevin, Mrs. Tate, Mrs. Kennedy, Mrs. Barker, Miss Graham, Mrs. Hargreaves, Mrs. Were, Miss Gray, Mrs. Evans and Miss Barker. The first round of the Harrison Gup resulted as follows: Mrs. Hargreaves beat Miss V. Andrews, 6—4; Miss Gray beat Mrs. Were, 1 up; Mrs. McLeod beat Miss Barker, 3 —l; Mrs. Barker won from Miss Dinsdale by default; Mrs. Hetet beat Miss McKenzie, 4—3; Mrs. Aitken beat Miss Darvell, 5 —4; Miss Graham beat Mrs. Raine, 1 up. The draw for the second round is as follows, and must be completed by July 10: Mrs. Hargreaves v. Miss Graham, Miss Gray v. Miss Matthews, Mrs. McLeod v. Mrs. Aitken, Mrs. Barker v. Mrs. Hetet. Thursday Play.-—Mrs. Tate v. Mrs. Hetet, Mrs. Smart v. Mrs. Hargreaves, Mrs. McLeod v. Mrs. Aitken (Harrison Cup), Mrs. Kennedy v. Mrs. Raine, Mrs. Evans v. Mrs. Were. Smart (6) and Hansen are the finalists—play to be over 27 holes. The following were the best cards handed in for the second round of the “aggregate” played on Saturday: Browne, 93—24—69; Hansen, 96 —26 70; Hotu, 98—28—70; Wilson, 87—16 —7l; Smart, 105 —34—71; Frerichs, 103—32—71; Bathgate, 88—16—72; Dinsdale, 91—18—73; Podevin, 105 — 32—73; Saunders, 89 —14—75; Powdrell, 101—26—75; Allison, 112—34—78; Hine, 90—12—78; Tate, 94—16—78. Aitken, 100 —22—78. Wilson’s 87 was the best gross score. In the bogey competition, Bathgate and Hansen tied, with 3 down, followed by Wilson and Browne, each 4 down.

Hansen’s handicap has been reduced to 24.

Mr. Harrison, Senr., has signified his intention of giving a trophy to the runner-up in each ,case of the ladies’ and men’s senior championship. Local Rule No. 2 has been amended to provide for the optional replaying of a ball, played from outside 20 yards, which strikes a green post, etc. (See notice board.) It has been decided in the case of the men to utilise the best two out of three of the aggregate rounds for qualifying purpose for the team to represent the club at the Kijng Country championships. Next Saturday an inter-club match with Otorohanga will be played on the local links. The Te Kuiti team will be as follows: Mesdames Barker, Kennedy, Tate, Hetet, Aitken, Hargreaves and McLeod, and Miss Graham. Messrs. Hine, Saunders, Bathgate, Tate, Wilson, Harrison, Dinsdale and Boyd. Match will take preference over club play. Local players please note.
