NEWSVENDORS SUED
BOTTOMLEY'S CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. JUDGMENT FOR DEFENDANTS. - —— —— / (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) (Received 11.30 a.m.) London, March 2. A jury awarded Horatio Bottomley £250 in a case in which he claimed damages for statements reflecting upon him in publications sold by Woolworths. Mr. Horridge ruled that the findings were unjusfffied, and gave judgment for Woolworths with costs. He sympathised with Bottomley because of the wicked libels published in an American paper, but said if a newsvendor innocently sold a document containing libel,* nobody had the right to recover damages against him, unless there was some reason why he ought not to have done it.
