ANNIVERSARY DAY

LOCAL FIXTURES.

INTER-CLUB TENNIS. A number of sports fixtures were arranged locally for Anniversary Day, Thursday last, which was observed as a general holiday throughout the Province. Inter-club tennis was played between Te Kuiti and Te Awamutu “A” teams at Te Kuiti and “B” teams at Te Awamutu. Te Kuiti won both contests, the “A’s”. winning by 22 to 5 matches, 205 to 116 games.

CRICKET

TE KUITI v. OTOROHANGA

At Otorohanga the combined Te Kuiti Railway Clubs defeated a combined Otorohanga team by 176 runs to 169, after a very interesting game. The principal scorers were Sanderson 61, Dinsdale (not out) 20, Davidson 13, Liddell 13, Howell 11. For Otorohanga the best men were Scowan (not out) 40, Boggast 30, Hyde 16, Finlay 16.

BOWLING

TOURNAMENT AT OTOROHANGA. Rinks from Te Kuiti, Otorohanga, Te Awamutu, Cambridge and Claudelands competed in the Anniversary Day bowling tournament held at Otorohanga on Thursday. Armstrong’s team (Te Awamutu) emerged the winners with five wins and no losses. Three rinks went from Te Kuiti. TO PLAY N.P.F.B. TEAM. Messrs. McLeod, Dinsdale, Peterson, Tapp, and Read, representing the Te Kuiti Bowling Club, are at present in New Plymouth playing a return match with the New Plymouth Fire Brigade Club.
