DISTRICT NEWS
WAITANGURU (Own Correspondent.) The district of Waitanguru seems a veritable beehive of industry, judging by observation. Lime works, lorries, - carts, sledges and men all wear a very dusty appearfrom daylight to dark one sees real action. If only the living was a little more encouraging and the man on the land more able to employ labour the block would soon be a little paradise. Sheep, cattle, lambs, cows in milk and calves look healthy and well. This last touch of summer makes the country look at its best. No doubt it needs more stocking on rough lands to crush the rubbish out. The folk around keep up their sense of humour, which goes a long way these times. The school breaks up on the 19th inst., and a Christmas Tree function will be held that evening. “Santa Claus” keeps a good front in spite of hardships and will not let the children down. He was a child himself once, so knows what the child feels if “Santa” is missing. There is plenty of enthusiasm in the wishing of a bright and merry Christmas to ail and leave out the pessimist, and may 1931 bring better results to our efforts.
