KELVIN HOTEL.
ALTERATIONS NOW COMPLETED. For some time past alterations have been in progress on the front section of Kelvin Hotel, and these have now been completed. The result is a complete transformation and a decided improvement not only to the architecture of the house itself but also to the site. Previously the Kelvin front was set back some feet from the street with a. narrow lawn space intervening!. An elaborate find substantial covered way from the building to the street has now been erected, and the former entrance and several rooms have been transformed into a commodious and artistic lounge which, it is safe to say, could not be excelled in any hotel in a town of this size anywhere in the country. The lounge lighting scheme is also a feature. The inside design of the new lounge is in white plaster with black facings and is of very fine, appearance. Inside the building every room has been painted in white enamel paint, while the walls throughout have been artistically papered. The dining! room is a special feature of the house, and is both commodious and well-lighted. The kitchen has been renovated, and is practically fly-proof. Added to these improvements, the furnishings throughout have been brought up-to-date. If the coming tourist season is all that it is expected to be. Kelvin will indeed prove a valuable acquisition to the town. The recent alterations were carried cut under the direction of Mr A. C. Lavingfton, architect, the contractors be : ng Messrs Hitchcock and Buckman.
