CHARGES OF THEFT.
FROM TE KUITI RACING CLUB.
ACCUSED FURTHER REMANDED
At the Police Court this morning, before Messrs J. F. Walsh, and G. GhiTji-cher 1 , J.P.'s, Ldonard Christian Harton, who appeared on remand, was charged as follows: "Firstly, that between Ist February, 1925, and 24th Februarv, 1927, at Te Kuiti did steal the sum of £232 19s 9d, the property of the Te Kuiti Racing Club ; secondly, that between the Ist day of August, 1925, and the Ist August, 1927, at Te Kuiti did receive the sum of £96 7s 6d on terms requiring him to pay the same into the Bank of New Zealand, at Te Kuiti, to the credit of Fredericik S. Sutton, late of Te Kuiti, stationer, and did fraudulently omit to pay the same, thereby committing theft. The amount in the second charge originally read "the sum of £100," but on the application of the police the charge was amended as above. On the application of Mr H. T. Morton, on behalf of Mr G. P. Finlay, counsel for accused, a further remand was granted till Wednesday next, at 4 p.m., to enable accused's counsel, who Jhad been engaged in the Supreme Court at Hamilton, to go into the case.
Bail was fixed in the same sureties as in the previous remand.
