In loss than six months the Christchurch Tramway Board has lost £12,754. This was revealed by a report received at a meeting hour the W orks and Traffic Committee. The earnings Irom all sources totalled £12(3.915, an increase oi £BO3 over the corresponding period last year, 'this increase, however, is not sufficient to meet the increases in operating costs, due principally to the increased cost of power from Lake Coleridge, increase in wages and more frequent services, which entail running 40,700 more electric carmiles per month. The Tramway Board's bus business was responsible for Cl 788 of the deficiency.
