MOTORING IN THE BACKBLOCKS.
THROUGH TO THE COAST. BY NEW ROUTE. Mr J. C. Rolleston, M.P.. and Mrs Rolleston, recently returned from a tour to the coast. Leaving on Monday last, their car was enabled to negotiate all die roads, including the clay portion leading inland from the North Road. Visits were made to the settlers at Waikawau, Tongaporatu. Ohau, Rotare, Okohe. and Piho. A return was made by the Rotare-Wai-tauguru-Olmra Road, which is not yet completed. Although Mr Rolleston's oar was fh>. first tlumigh from the cofcisfc side, it would not have been possible to negotiate it if it had not been for the assistance given by the Waianguru .settilers, who met the party on tin; Rotare side and helped the car over th-; v rough places. When this road is completed it will make an alternative route from To Kult/i and Ohara to the coast. The bush scenery along the road is in every way equal to that found on Mt. Messenger.
