CROYDON AIR DISASTER.
MACHINE HAD ENGINE TROUBLE (Press Association.— Copyright.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) London, January 9. At the inquest on the Croydon air disaster victims tbe coroner stated that Captain Hineheliffe, the pilot who was flying the machine, bad some clays before complained of engine trouble. Captain Hineheliffe actually flew the machine back towards Croydon on the morning of December 24, the day of the disaster. The jury must consider whether reasonable care was taken in order to make the machine fit for its journey, and decide whether the deaths were due to misadventure or neglect.
(Eight persons were killed when the London to Paris air express crashed just after starting from ifhe Croydon iierodrorno on December 24. The machine immediately burst into flames and the bodies of tho victims were terribly )|.irned when /the bottom of tho cabin burned and fell out. It was •uhought that most of the passengers were rendered unconscious when tlie machine struck.)
