SUMMER SPORTS.

CROQUET. The Croquet Club held a gala day on Saturday, to which a. large number ot friends of the members were invited. The rustic arbors were decorated with rod ribbonsand transformed into stalls, and a finer noun tea was served on the verandah of the pavilion. All present spent a very enjoyable afternoon. BOWLING. MATCH FOR 110LAH FERNS. The third match of the season lor Iho Holah Ferns was played on Saturday. Munro's loam, who have hold Luo Gold Ferns since the beginning of the season, were drawn against! Kieman, Fitter, Williams and Holah (s.) The challengers got a good lead on the holders and at the tea interval were leading 10 to 2. After tea the holder-, got a o and 4 in two heads which made the niiwjch more interesting. The last head was played in heavy rain and keenness was shown by all the players. 11olab’s team eventually won the ferns by 24 to 16.

The competition for these ferns is undoubtedly creating a great deal ot interest and! -.tends to make all the players give ol their best. lit the usual rink match Andrew, Henderson, Innes and McDonald (s) 20 defeated Hod-ley, Davidson, MoEwan. and Williamson (s) 15. In a paiis match Junes and Gilbert 28 were 100 much for Bates and Griffiths, 26. R. If. Browne, Sanders, Canton and HiWheock (s) 24, defeated Teasda-le, p. Brown, Named and McLeod (s) 10.
