A -cable message from New York states that Mrs Gene Stratton Porter,, the well-known authoress, has been killed in a street car' accident. Her own motlpr car was struck by a track trolley car, with fkfrJ results to her. The death is announced of Mr Tlios. De Vere Hunt, of Mat-iere, one of the earliest settlers in - the King Country, a member of the' Hospital Board, fartuer member *pu Ohura County Council, and Mature representative on Auckland Railways League for some years. •
