INCREASE BY COURT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wellington, this day. The Arbitration Count has increased tlve basic wage of the Dominion water-_ Side workers from 2s 2d to 2s 2£d per hour. Mr Hiram Hjanter, for the workers, dissented on the ground that regularworkers only averaged 32 hours Aveek.ly, and the basic rate should be 2s s£d per hour. The usual preference clause is inserted with the addition that provision is made by agreement between/ the Waterside Workers' Federation and the Employers' Federation to limit the number of men employed at any particular port, as the number is deemed to be excessive for the carrying owt of the work.
