ILL TREATING A HORSE.
A SHOCKING CASE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, this day. "This is the worst case of cruelty to animals we have ever dealt with," said the Justices in inflicting a fine of £ls on a man named Frank Carter, a contractor at St. Martins, for beating a mare with a stick and p longhandled shovel. The evidence showed that nearly a month later the horse had a lump behind its head.
