At the Supreme Court sitting John Hunter, found guilty of attempted theft of a watch from an elderly man in a hotel, by snatching it, was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment. In the case of William Pitt, charged with indecently assaulting two young girls at Taumarunui, the jury disagreed, and a new trial was ordered.
