LAWN TENNIS.
TE KUITI PLAY TE AWAMUTU. LOCAL TEAM DEFEATED. A representative Te Kuiti tennis team played a friendly match with Te Awamutu on the Te Awamutu courts on Saturday, and suffered defeat by 11 sets to 7, or 123 games to 107.
The Te Kuiti men more than held their own, winning four singles and all the doubles. The ladies, however, found the opposition much too strong, and with the exception of Miss Bell, were all easily defeated. As the Te Kuiti team had to return the same day, the combined events could not be played,, which was unfortunate for Te Kuiti, as they expected to even the scores by victories in these events. The following are the scores, Te Kuiti players being mentioned first in each instance: — Ladies' Singles. Miss Daldy lost to Miss Edwards 3—7. Mrs Hetet lost to Miss Irwin 3—7. Miss Hitchcock lost to Mrs Teasdale 3—7. Miss Jones lost to Miss Bond I—7. Miss Bell lost to Mrs Bates (5—7. Miss P. Daldy lc;:L to Mrs Nizen 4—7. Ladies' Doubles. Miss Daldy and Mrs Hetet lost to Miss Evans and Mrs Teasdale 3—9. Misses Hitchcock and Jones lost to the Misses Bond and Irwin 3-9. ( Misses Bell and P.
