BOWLING.

CLUB COMPETITIONS. The club competitions on the local green are approaching completion. The singles championship was finished on Saturday when E. A. Power defeated T. Dix. The Jackson Cup contest has reached its semi-final stage, and the championship doubles should be finished next week. The results of the singles championship games are as follow: — First Round.—C. Boles beat G. Hitchcock; A. F. Howarth beat Father Finn; H. Were beat B. Smith; T. Dix beat T. Porter; C. N. Matthew beat G. Churcher; E. A. Power beat* A. Black; J. B. Young beat N. B. Lusk; L. Jacob beat Gorman. Second Hound.—T. Dix beat C. Boles; £. A. Power beat L. Jacob. THE FINAL. With Dix one game to the good, the final between Power and T. Dix was concluded on Saturday. Power started well, scoring four before his opponent opened his account. At the sixth head the scores stood: Power 5, Dix 4, but theu Power added a 3 and a 2. Dix replied with a couple of singles, but his opponent scored steadily, and at the loth head bad a lead of fc. A 2 at the 18th put Power in a strong position. Dix put on 6 on the last three heads, leaving Power the winner 17—15. The last game was one of great interest to follow. On the first head Power, with a good one lay the shot On the second head he was lying 4, when Dix, with a magnificent bowl, scored with a toucher, and equalised matters. The fourtn head developed along similar lines, and Dix again attempted to dtaw the shot. He failed, and Power added 4 to his score. For the fourth time running Dix was set a difficult problem when he came to play his last bowl. On the seventh head he missed a couple of drrves, leaving Power with 3. Power lead by 11—2 at the next head. When the score stood 16—2 against him Dix made a surprising recovery, adding a 1, 3, and 4, and making the figures 16—10. On the 16th head Dix was lying 3, but Power drew the shot. From then on Power never left the issue in doubt, and he won the game with the scores 22—15. JACKSON CUP. First Round.—G.
