LABOUR PARTY.
THE COMING ELECTION. The monthly meeting of the Te Kuiti branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held in Mr Powell's rooms on Saturday night. Mr Powell presided over a fair attendance.
On the motion of Mr Tapp, seconded by the chairman, it was resolved that the secretary be instructed to write the A.S.R.S. and the E F.C.A. regarding proposed workers' Educational classes, and ask if the members were willing to assist. Messrs Elliot and Spring were elected auditors. On the motion of Mr Spring, seconded by Mr Tapp, Mr Powell was authorised, when on a visit to Auckland, to place the position of the electorate and approaching election before the Labour Party and failing a definite answer the president and secretary will make the best arrangements for organisation. v^ The secretary was instructed to write Mr S. Smith, M.P. New Plymouth, and inquire as to the position of the Labour Party at Waitara, and if he would be willing to assist the party if it put up a candidate for the Waitomo seat. There's nothing like butter for bread, There's nothing like leather for boots, There's nothing for bullets like lead, There's nothing grows timber like roots. On foregone conclusions like these, To argue is cußsedness pare; 'Tis as certain for colds you'll find ease In Woods' Great Peppermint Cure.
