POLITICAL NOTES.
The Prime Minister has been asked by Mr Jennings whether he will take action in connection with a remark by Judge Hosking in the Supreme Court, Wellington, on Saturday last, as follows:—"It is a pity that there is not some legislation about these agreements that land agents concoct, and in which they put clauses that are traps to the unwary."
Mr W. H. Field has given notice to ask the Native Minister whether, in tne event of the beneficial native owners of native townships, under the Native Townships Act, 1895, being desirous of selling these tuwnßhip lands at prices satisfactory to them, the Government will purchase the native interests ir such lands, with a view to selling the freehold to lessees deriring to purchase, or by soma other means place the lessees in a position to freehold their holdings, and thus encourage them to build upon and improve them.
