OTOROHANGA.

(Own Correspondent.) WEDDING BELLS. A large and fashionable assembly were present at Charlesville, Eangiatea, twelve mites from Otorohanga, when Miss Nellie Somerville was married to Mr E. M. Edkins, of Otorohanga. The ceremony took place at midday, the Rev. Sate, of Dunedin, officiating. The bride looked charming in white satin, trimmed with beautiful lace, with a veil and orange blossom. The bridesmaids, Misses Somerville and Edkins, wore blue and pink nun's veiling and net dresseß and sweet little caps. The room was tastefully decorated with white clematis. The Wedding March was played by Mr Corboy, who also played whilst the contracting parties were signing the register. After the ceremony a very enjoyable breakfast was partaken of, and the usual speeches made The happy pair, amidst much cheering and showers of rice and confetti and several pairs of old shoes, left by motor car en route for tha Continent. Some of those present were:—Mr and Mrs H. Stubb?, Mr and Mrs Thomas, Mr and Mrs HomerBham, Mr and Mrs E. Petit, Mr and Mrs Gadsby, Dr and Mrs Leeper, Mr and Mrs Corboy, Mc and Mrs Somerville, Miss Wilkins, Mr and Mrs Cutfieid. Therewas a large display of pretty and useful presents. After their honeymoon they will take up their residence inOtorohanga.

OBITUARY. We are sorry to record the death of Mr Walter Symes, of this district, who passed away after a short but painful illness, at the Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday night. The late Mr Symes, represented Taranalu for some years in the House of Representatives but for the past four or five years has been farmint? in the vicinity of Otorohanga. He leaves a widow and one Bon, Mr Bradlaugh Symes, to mourn hiß loss. —Orotohanga Correspondent.
