MANGAOHAE-MOEATOA TELEPHONE

The following letter haa been received by the secretary of the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce in connection with the erection of the line between Moeatoa and Mangaohae, concerning which the settlers and the Chamber have been agitating for some considerable time: —

"In reference to yuur letter of the 12th ult . enquiring when the telephone line would be erected between Moeatoa and Mangaohae: I beg, by direction, to inform you that the telegraph engineer, Auckland, reported on the 29th ult. that the poles and other material were going forward and that the work of construction would be commenced immediately aEter the New Year.—F.
