HOW TO PROTECT ANIMALS FROM FLIES.
In response to numerous enquiries for a cheap and effective substance to keep flies off horses and cows. S. Avery, the veterinarian and chemist of the Nebraska Station, has prepared and tested a compound that gives excellent results. The formula is as follows: —'Neutral oil 4 pints, oil jf wood tar 1 pint. Mix and shak9 well. Apply lightly, with a flexible brush, or with spray pump. Avoid excessive application, as a very light application is sufficient to nrotect the animal for some time, as for instance, during a milking period, or longer.
