SIGNS OF THE TIMES.

UNREST IN THE CHURCH. London, Saturday. The Bishop, of London, preaching at Fulham Church, made reference to the race for armaments abroad, the strikes in Great Britain, the threatened civil war in Ireland, and the suffragette movement in England, and remarked that amid all these turmoils the Church itself was face to faca with a dispute which, unless properly,, firmly, and delicately handled, might split it in twain. They must, he said, face, and not exaggerated, the facts, and not pay for peace at any price. Better a Balkan war than a thousand years of oppression better industrial unrest than the chains of slavery; bet ter hot discussion in the Church, even if they only found at the end upon what principles the Church was founded.

The worst unrest that had been deplored, said his Lordship, might be the necessary path to righteous peace whch was the only peace for which the Christian waa entitled to

pray.
