AWAKINO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the above Council was held at Waitanguru laat Saturday., when the following were present—Crs Leech (chairman), Kelly and Thorns, Correspondence received from Kawhia Council notifying that they were prepared to allow their engineer to inspect the bridge over the Marokopa river with the object of suggesting remedies to check the vibration. The correspondence l'rom the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commrece re Government taking over the maitN/oadd was held over. Communication from the Commissioner of Crown Lands asking to supply him with certain information regarding an. application from Mr Whitcombe, of Moaetoa, which asked j for the expenditure of his thirds on a bridge so as to enable him to secure access to road.—Atfer discussion the I matter was left in the hands of the chairman to arrange. The office of the Awakino County Coucnil will be at Pio Pio, and will I be open for County business on Fridays and on sale days orfm 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The following resolutions wern carried, and the clerk instructed to give effect to same:— To be wired to the Prime Minister: —"That this Council views with serious concern the action of the Btrikera in the present industrial dispute and its deplorable effect upon the Dominion and wishes to assure Mr Mbbsey of its belief that a just and firm attitude on his part will have the loyal support of the yeomen of the Dominion." That the Council at itß next regular meeting to be held on Saturdy, December 13tb, shall make and levy a general rate of halfpenny in the £ on the unimproved value in each riding of the. County. Cra Leech and Thoms. That the chairman and clerk of the Waitomo County Coucnil be thanked for kindly assistance and advice to the chairman of the Awakino County Council. —Crs Leech and Kelly. Resolutions authorising the raising of special loan and striking the rate for the Kiritehere rating area were carried. The clerk was instructed to prepare general rollß at once. The annual meeting of the Council was fixed for November 26tb, 191g, at 11 a.m.
