SALE OF NATIVE LANDS.
3005 ACRES DISPOSED OF.
Some 14,821 acres of Maori lands, comprising the Taumatatotara and several adjacent blocks, were offered for sale and lease on Wednesday by the Waikato Maniapoto District Land Board, at its office in the Government Buildings, Auckland. Of the twentysix lots, totalling 12,782 acres, offered for sals, six lots, comprising 3000 acres. wer6 disposed of. The lands for lease comprised four lot?, embrac ing an aggregate of 2039 acres. All four lota found lessee. The remainder of the salable lots are now available at upset prices, ranging from 25s to 45s per afire. Following are the sections so'd:— Section 8, block 2, 416 acres 0 roods 16 perches, Kawhia South, 30s per acre: Purchaser, Alfred Brown. Section 7, block 3,. 399 acres 1 rood 34 perches, Kawhia South, 403 per acre: Purchaser, Hotukopa te Karawa. Section 8, block 3, 87 acres 3 roods 8 perches, Kawhia South, 40s per acre: Purchaser, Tutunui te Karawa. Section 9, block 3, 382 acres 0 roods 24 perches, Kawhia South, 40s per acre: Purchaser, Hotukopa te Karawa. Section 12, block 6, 288 acres, Kawhia South, 30s per acre: Pur chaser, Richard Thomas. Section 6, block 11, 93 acres Kawhia South, 57s 6d per acre : Pur chaser, W. Armitage. The four sections disposed of by lease were as follows: —
Section 7, block 9, 473 acres 1 rood, Mngaoronga, 3s 6d per acre: James McColl, junr. Section 8, Wharepuhuriga, No. 14b, 1291 acres, Is 7d per acre: Thomas Ogier,
Section G.G., Maraetana Nos. 9c and 10, 197 acres 1 rood 16 perches, 5s 6d per acre: A. Smart. Section 28b, No. 10, Kinohaku East, 78 acres 0 roods 23 perches, 2s 6d per acre: P. D. Tennant.
The remaining sections are now available for selection, and will be allotted to priority oE tender. A further area of 4422J acres of Maori land in the West Taupo County is being offered by the board for sale and lease by public tender. The major portion of the land is for lease, six sections totalling 4095 acres in the Tuhua Survey District being available. The land offered for sale by tender comprises a section with an area of 327 acres in the same survey district. Tenders will be received at the office of the board, Government Buildings, up to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6th.
