Mr Somerville congratulated the association on having gone in for the shed for home industries. As to the matter of debentures the association would require tu push the taking of debentures. Recently there had been a money tightness, but indications pointed to a healthier tone. The adoption of the report and bal-ance-sheet was carried unanimously. Before the election of officers was proceeded with Mr C. Stevens, vicepresident, said he would like to draw attention to the fact that they had in the past assumed that the president could only hold office for one year. The chairman said that from past experience he had no hesitation in declaring in favour of a two-days' show. The first show was one day, which turned out wet. The last show, under any disadvantages, had beer, a success which it would not have been' had there been only one day. Mr Gadsby said he could thoroughly endorse all the chairman had said. He considered it impossible to get through all tne work satisfactorily in one day.

In reply to Mr Lethbridge, the secretary said the amount taken at the gates on the first day was rather more than £6, while the expenses Were £5. The second day's takings amounted to £SB.

On the question being put to the meeting it was decided to continue the show aa a two-day function. After the usual loyal toast had been honoured, the toast of "Donors of Trophies" was proposed by Mr N. C. Matthew, who commended the spirit of those who had , so loyally assisted the association by providing such

handsome and valuable tophies, thereby fostering a spirit of emulation and competition which was so great a factor towards the success of the association Messrs Gadsby, Stevens, Mostyn Jones Higgs, and Broadfoot responded. "The Workers" was proposed by Mr Mostyn Jones, who referred to the organisation necessary to carry on the work of the association, special reference being made to Mr Brittain, who was unable to be present. Messrs Shannon, Rolleston and Hardy suitably responded. "The A.

and P. Association" was proposed in felicitous terms by Mr E. Martin, who paid a high tribute to thoge connected with the association for their efforts

to benefit the district. Mr R. M. Somerville, in reply, referred to the efforts of the association towards getting the settlers to co-operate with a view to providing better facilities for the sale of the fat stock of the district. Where Fat Stock Associations had been formed elsewhere the experience had been that the settlers had been able to realise at least a shilling to two shillings per head more for their fat sheep. The settlers should combine and an oppor-

! tunity was afforded to that end through the association. He also referred to the fact that settlers were frequently lax in sending in their stock returns. This district suffered in consequence of this laxity, and he trusted the settlers would be urged to keep their returns up-to-date, and so benefit themselves and the district. Mr Stevens, in responding to the toast, said he hoped to see the association better assisted by the country people attending the show. The as sociation was for the benefit of the district, and merited thejaupport of every settler within reach. The at-

tendance at the shows was a big item towards success and the settlers should realise this in a practical manner. Other toasts honoured were : —■ "Ladies' Committee," proposed by Mr Broadfoot, ana responded to by Mr A. B. Jordan; "Borough Council," Mr Mussen- -Mr Mostyn Jones. During the evening vocal items and recitations were rendered by Messrs Rolleston, Martin, Howarth, Price, Bayly, Cochrane, and others.
