LONDON LABOUR PAPER.

The London Daily Citizen, which represents the most ambitious attempt ever made to run a daily newspaper in Labour's interests, is in serious financial difficulties. The journal is pub ished every morning in London and in Manchester, and within a year it has secured a circulation of I about 300.000 copies daily, while itß news service is full and comprehensive. The policy of the Daily Citizen is socialistic and it presents the workers' case capably and vigorously. But the Labour organisations which promised support have not all been as good as their word, and last month the managers announced that they had funds enough to produce the newspaper for only eight more weeks. The Liberal journals of London have generously published appeals on behalf of their youthful contemporary. "When the Labour organisations discover," says the Daily Chronicle, 1 "that inadequate financial support of trade unionists as daily readers they will no doubt come to the help of their own paper. The Daily Citizen has proved a dignified and responsible exponent of Labour, a good fighter of Labour's battles, and a serviceable organ of the Labour party, and as such it fills a special position in the press of the country." Probably there are secitona of the Labour Party who will see in this appeal evidence of a wicked alliance between their leaders and the designing Liberals.
