Messrs Abraham and Williams reports on their Johnsonville sale as followsA heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward. The demand was good, especially for the sheep which were mostly of extra good quality and weighty. Prime heavy bullocks £ll 2s 6d to £ll 10s, prime bullocks £lO 10s to £lO 17? 6d, lighter £9 15s to £lO ss, light £9 5s to £9 10s, prime weighty vealers 45s to 495, 525, lighter 27s to 40s, extra prime heavy wethers 21s 6d to 22s 4d, prime wethers 19s to 19s 4d, light plain wethers 17s 3d, good ewes 16s 6d to 17s, plain ewes 14s 5d to 14s 9d, extra prime lambs 15s 2d to 16? sd, prime shorn lambs 33s 6d. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday, our entry of beef totalled 501 head. There waß a falling off in the demand, and values receded from 10s to 20s per

head, cow and plain beef suffering most. Choice ox sold to 28a 6d, prime 25s to 275, cows and heifers 16s to 245, steers ranged in price from £5 10s to £4 ss, two trucks of extra heavy choice bullocks averaged £l3 10s, cows and heifers £2 10s to £lO 2s 6d. The 63 fat and young calves penned sold at late figures. Heavy suckers £2 10s to £3 10s, medium 35s to 48s, light 23s to 335, small and fresh-dropped 3s to 20s. There was an average supply of fat sheep the quality of which was not up to the standard. Prime mutton was firmer. Prime heavy wethers 23s to 25s 9d no extra heavy offered, medium

to heavy 18a Gd tu 225, light and unfinished 15s to 17s, extra heavy prime ewes 19s to 21s, good 15s 6d to 18s 6d, others 9s to 14s 6d; 1534 sold. Few lambs yarded, and Bold at late rates. Best woolly 15s tol 6s 6d small pen of extra 19s, others 12s to 14b 6d, stores 6s 6d to 9s; 153 sold. A moderate yarding of pigs sold at prices on a par with last sale. Choppers to £4 ; heavy baconers £3 8s to £3 18s, lighter £2 15s to £3 7s, large porkers £2 2s to £2 13s, lighter 33s to 41s, small 22s to 31s, medium stores 10s 6d to 16s, suckers and weaners 2s 6d to 9s; 86 sold. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency reports: At Westfield yards on Wednesday beef was yarded in full numbers, and mostly good quality. Prices declined from 7s 6d to 10s per head. Best oxed sold to 29s per 1001b, others 24s to 275, cows and heifers sold at from 22s to 265. Steers sold at from £7 10a to £l3 7s 6d. A draft of 29 steers from Mr Jas. Given, Waiuku, averaged £l2 Is 6d. Cows and heifera sold at from £4 10s to £9 log. Calves yarded in exceptionally large numbers, and sold at last week's rates. Heavy vealers sold at from £3 2s to £4 13s, medium weights £1 15s to £2 19s, others 15s to 18a, smaller and fresh dropped 3s to 6s 6d. Sheep were penned in large numbers, and advanced in p r icee on last week's rates. Best wethers sold at from 19s 6d to 25s 3d, others 15s 6d to 19s, heavy ewes 17s to 21s, others 13s 6d to 16s 9d. Lambs in full quantity. First quality sold at from 13s 6d to 17s 3d, others 10s 6d to 13s 3d, store do. 5s to 9s fid. Pigs yarded in very large numbers, and sold well, with the exception of weaners and slips, which were hard to quit. Baconers sold at from £3 10s to £4 14s. large porkers £1 14s to £2 16s, porkers 28s to 3 656 d, slips 18s 6d to 265, weaners 2s to 6s 6d.
