TIMBER TRAIN FATALITY.
YOUNG MAN KILLED. SEVERAL SEVERELY INJURED. TRUCK DERAILED BY PIGS. A shocking accident, occurred near Taringamutu yesterday resulting in the death of a young man, and the serious injury of several others. Several passengers were travelling on a timber train from the bush to Taringamutu when the train ran into a drove oC pigs, and the passenger truck was derailed. Some of the pas* sengers were thrown under the engine* and all were more or less injured. A youth named Vincent Lade, butcher's assistant, agml :.',() years, had his leg broken and sustained serious internal injuries. He died while being conveyed to Hie hospital. The Rev. 11. 0. Townsenn Ilanby sustained a broken log Miss Ilanby was injured in the back; Mr I'arker was badly cut about the. face; Mrs Burn Bull" had a wrist broken. Mrs Hanby'a sister (Miss McFarlund) and Mr A. Cook escaped with a few scratches and bruises.
