MANGAROA -MAIN TRUNK RAILWAY
Own Correspondent. Aria, Tuesday. A public meeting of those interested in the construction of this railway was held in the Aria Hall last Friday. The attendance would have been much better if rain had not prevented those at a distance coming in. Correspondence was read from Mr C. K. Wilson, M.P., saying he would help the project all he knew, and the secretary reported he had written asking the sympathy and assistance of the Auckland Railway League and Chamber of Commerce. The petition sheets to hand had been very fully signed, and reports from all parts showed that everybody was fully alive to do all in thete power to see the project made a success. It was resolved to meet again [on Friday, 20th September, at 1 p.m. to choose a delegate to be sent to Wellington.
The question of saleyard was then discussed, and a sub-committee consisting of Messrs P. Smyth, Mayne, A. Morgan and A. R. Keighley was set up to consider sites, and confer with the Kaeaea committee, and to report at the next meeting, on September 20th.
