PUKETITI.
Own Correspondent,
A notable event was celebrated in the district on Friday, August 23rd, the occasion being the opening of Mr J. Wall's new wouished. Fully thirty couples responded to the invitation extended by Mr Wall, and the new building received a house-warm-ing in the good, old-fashioned style. Dancing was kept up till daylight with intervals during which the liberal hospitality of Mr Wall was done full justice to. Since Mr Wall has acquired the property a comprehensive scheme of improvements has been carried on. In addition to the wool shed a nice residence has been erected. Last season was a disastrous one for those who had bush to burn, and Mr Wall who had about thirteen hundred acres down was compelled to refrain from firing it. Fortunately the second growth has not come away too badly and an excellent burn should be obtained this year. A further area of bush has been felled adjacent to last year's falling, and given a fairly dry summer this season there should be a first class burn.
Mr Boddy, whose property adjoins that of Mr Wall, had a similar experience in respect to his bush, but prospects are bright for the coming season and progress thereafter should be rapid.
